Yoga is an invaluable gift from India’s ancient tradition. It is not just about exercise, but also about discovering the sense of oneness with ourselves, nature and the world.
At our school, we celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21, 2016. The chief guest was retired IPS officer, Sri Shantharam. The program started with lighting of the lamp by our Chief Guest and our Principal, followed by a welcome speech by our Principal in which she compared young minds to sponges looking for input to soak in. Sri Shantharam who is himself a practitioner of yoga spoke next, conveying the importance of yoga in our daily lives.
A yoga session was conducted by Karthika and Swetha S. Mani from Amrita University’s Amritapuri campus. Our students demonstrated various yoga postures such as Tadasana, Parsva Hastacalana, Vrikshasana, Ardha Bhujangasana, etc. The session concluded with meditation and Santhi mantra.
