We celebrated Onam on 9th September, 2016. The celebrations started with the setting up of an attractive floral decoration (pookkalam) in the reception area. An impressive design and artistic creativity were the hallmarks of the pookkalam, welcoming everyone to a world of festivity and fun. The arrival of Mahabali amid the beats of Chendamelam by students of classes X and XI was well received. The programme also included Onappattu by staff and students and Thiruvathira by Class XII girls.
The inter-house ‘Tug-of-War’ contest was a great success as the participants were cheered on by the spectators, each cheer tightening their grips on the rope and making it harder for the other team. Later, “ada-pradhaman”, the sumptuous payasam of Kerala was distributed to the students to add sweetness to the celebrations. Amidst all these fun filled activities, Amma’s children did not forget to share their joy with the needy this year too. They collected rice grains and donated it to an orphanage nearby.
