Libraries take on an important dimension for children starting school for the first time. In addition to recreation, the library is a place to find information, usually to help with schoolwork. This expanded focus in no way diminishes the library’s importance as a source of pleasure. We accustom our KG children to the activity of reading by having them follow along during story time.
